Guido Nannini: The History
Towards the end of 1800 Guido Nannini, at the age of 16, begins to venture the markets of the Chianti region in Tuscany, where he was born, carrying a wooden chest on his shoulder – his first workshop – containing sweets cooked by his mother, following the ancient Tuscan tradition.
The sweets are an instant success and Guido rapidly expands his business, until opening, in 1909, his first store in Via del Paradiso in Siena.
The recipes of his mother and of the “speziali” (medieval pharmacists) are the secret of the success of the artisan laboratory from which scents of panpepati, ricciarelli, cavallucci, copate and from all the other sweet delicacies make their way all around town. The years pass, and at the birth of his beloved nephew, the now aged confectionery artisan imposes that he too shall be named Guido, “to not have to change the stamps and graphic of the wrapping paper and therefore save money” – he says, light-heartedly but not excessively...

Guido Nannini nephew , after numerous professional participations in rallies and formulas in various main international circuits, dedicates himself to his main gift: creativity, and a strong will to work, inherited by his grandfather.
Before beginning to work in the family company, Guido successfully works as a designer, initially for Fiorucci and then for Gucci.
In the meantime the sister Gianna becomes a famed rockstar, confirming that “blood is thicker than water” and with her success contributes towards the company’s brand-awareness.
